Hello,

Just acquired a Steinway grand and would like more info on it.

It's a former player piano, serial number 267975. The player part is no longer.

Sold to me as a Steinway RO grand. Seller said it's from 1928. Had its actions and hammers replaced in 2010.

Oh and I looooove it. Haven't named it yet.

Has an excellent sound-- I play everything on there and improvising is endless. It's also loud (I know this is on the silly and ham-fisted side but I do have a weak spot for loud things)!

Congrats!

I believe if you contact Steinway that they can give you more info on the piano.

This is a device for keeping the humidity (especially of the soundboard) constant. Lots of threads about them here on PW. A really good thing to have. Others will be able to tell you how to use it.

Congratulations on your new piano!

Click on the Dampp Chaser ad on the right. You'll find this page explaining its use.

That serial number indicates 1930. It would be an extended Model L (5'-10-1/2") grand, extended to 6'-5" to accommodate the spool box, which would have been sent to Aeolian for installation of the DuoArt player, and sold through Aeolian's network.
