Hi guys. I'm in the home stretch of learning Chopin's Raindrop Prelude Op. 28 N. 15. Here's my problem: I'm having the hardest time reading the right hand notes from measure 64. Admittedly, I'm not a great sight reader below or above the staff. Do you have any suggestions?

Sadly I don't have a score in front of me so I can't read out the notes (I also couldn't find this prelude on imslp for some reason). It may seem elementary, but you could try writing out the note names over top of them. If you're not great with ledger lines this will help you remember them. Just like beginners write note names in their scores, you can do the same. You can also consider figuring them out prior to playing and write them in pencil in the bass clef if they're in the lower end of the treble range.

Ah, quite possibly my favourite Chopin piece. I used to fake play parts of it, playing by ear.

Funny, I would think the left had would be harder to read as there are more ledger lines.

My suggestion is to read intervallically. Learn to recognize intervals between the outer notes of each chord and between notes of consecutive chord. Usually, when there are many ledger lines I only read the notes that are closer to the staff and figure out the other notes by intervals.

The lowest notes in the treble staff are just an octave below the highest notes. To learn the notes in the middle, write out what chords they are. That will be a good lesson in harmony.
