Howdy,

Currently own a few pianos but my two favorites are the Charles R Walter 1500 (1999 but looks near new) and a digital Kawai ES920 I just got for Christmas. I have been pretty impressed with the Kawai ES920 even though it’s a digital and now I’ve been considering selling my Charles R Walter 1500 and or trading it in for a Kawai K300! Would this be a good move? I play mostly romantic era like Chopin and Schumman. But getting into more modern music as well for church and to create a YouTube channel. Would there be a better piano for 10k or less than the Charles R Walter 1500 I have? How much would it be a reasonable price to sell my Charles R Walter 1500 satin ebony that’s in mint condition for? My piano tuner loves it so much he offered $4,000 for it. I called to trade in and they offered $3,500. I see them for sale for much more and older ones. Would the Kawai K300 be an upgrade? I’m only looking to buy new. How much discount from SMP could I get on a Kawai K300? I’ve heard of many getting 30% off SMP on new Kawais. Thoughts? Thank you

Do you actually like the particular Kawai more than your Walter? Or is there something you don't at all like about your own piano?

I suspect people here can help you play the odds, but if you already have a really good specimen it might be hard to replace without spending a lot more.

At that quality level, I’d step up one notch taller to the 50-52” size to get a noticeable performance improvement.

Pricing info from pre-2020 is not necessarily reflective of the current market for pianos…and just about anything else!

I love the Walter but I tend to get bored and like to change things up. Same with cars. I get a new car every two years. I’ve been really impressed with the Kawai es920 digital piano and now been thinking of trying a Kawai acoustic piano and the one that fits my budget is the K300 at this point. Will go and play a few next week and compare. Been hearing great things about the K300
