Don't mind me, I'm just mentally preparing for testing the Clavinovas on Sunday.

Has anyone tried these and the KAWAIs side by side? The 785 is one expensive piece, what's the consensus on its performance?

Cheers.

There is no consensus. The action is controversial, but some people love it.

Both actions have weighted keys, but only the 785 has counterweights. Without these, the 775 action will feel unnaturally heavy to most people.

I did read something about it in http://forum.pianoworld.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/2997378/ between page 95 and 107
So if nobody reacts you can find it there; you know in Google something like: action 775 785 site:forum.pianoworld.com
I remember something like the 775 is rubbish, 785 has contra weights or how do you call it, which makes a decisive difference.

I didn’t try it before but this works too (cut/copy and paste the following in Google):

Expect them to feel quite different than N1X or U1.

I tried the 775 action, not switched on. It was impressively light to my tender touch . . .

I have a 785 and the action is pretty heavy. It's graded, so the low keys are heavier than the high keys. It took me some getting used to but I'm happy with it now.
