Hi all,

We're considering moving our piano long distance from SW Florida up to Maryland depending on the cost.

Can anyone recommend a good reliable piano mover? I used to be in the industry but haven't been for many years.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hey Peggy,

Are you just moving the Sohmer? Anything else?

There are a few good professional movers that could help - Green Mountain or Modern Piano Movers come to mind. I am home now so I don't have any phone numbers, but I can get them tomorrow.

I hope that helps,

Please, do! Thank you and thanks to all who responded with PM's.

And, yes, we'd only be moving the Sohmer. I need to store it and I don't want to store it in a storage facility down here. I'm not sure what to do with it. We're not sure how long it'll have to be in storage. So...

Any suggestions are welcome:o)

The best thing to do, imo, is to have your piano picked up by a reputable piano dealer and bring your piano to their store. At that point a nation piano freight company such as Keyboard Carriage will pick up your piano and ship it to the nearest reputable piano dealership to your home in Maryland. Then that dealership will deliver your piano to your home.

I find this method works best because Keyboard Carriage is constantly making trips and can work around your schedule compared to smaller "door to door" shippers where you will have to work around theirs.

it will cost, generally:

225-300 to deliver the piano to the dealer in Florida

600-800 to deliver the piano to Maryland

225-300 to Deliver the piano to your Home in MD.

We could do it for you but it would cost around 400 to pick up the piano from way down there in Englewood.

Good luck

The Walter piano company has gotten into moving...similar to what Keyboard is doing... I'll offer that the experiences I've had with the Walter company have been exceptionally good so far. They also offer storage for those who need it..

Good luck. smile

CT,

Who is the Walter company? And how do I get in touch with them? I wouldn't mind looking into the storage part of it.

Let me know, and thank you!

Peggy

As an aside: I hope you are well! Miss you:o)

They are the same Walter family that makes the Charles Walter pianos.

You'd likely have to go through a local dealer or tech...but it'd be worth trying to talk to them about their rates. If there aren't good options locally, there's something about dealing with the Walter family that is comforting...

If you were going to bring it to Maryland, (assume you've family/friends there?) I'd feel better about it going up in a straight shot. We've had good luck with Green Mountain movers for those types of moves.

doing well, thanks smile very much missing your presence 'over there'

be well
