Say if you are allowed 100 attempts (or 200, etc.) to play a key such that you register each of the velocity level possible within a range (say 32-96), would you be able to do it?

No. I have three levels only; p mf ff. I do not need more!

In such a broad range yes, but that is a moot point, because that is not how it works or how it is supposed to work (see below).

The OP did not say that you have to have more than 3 ranges (what he asked could be your mf range). He said if you can consistently be in a given range.

But the point is not consistency or ability to pick a specific velocity level at will. Think about speaking: record yourself perhaps reciting a poem with some emphasis and check your levels. The point is not to give a specific intensity level (even less so in absolute terms) as much as being able to provide the needed intensity to some of the sounds, perhaps with (gradual) crescendos or diminuendos etc.

Actually the experiment is whether you can register all possible values (i.e. 32, 33, ... , 95, 96) given a number of attempts. Sorry if the language is somewhat unclear.

"able to do it" every time, for sure no. Maybe someone can do it; but I am sure it is not me.
"able to do it" after N trials, it depends on N.
