Hello,

I hope this is okay to post here. My wife and I are looking to buy our first acoustic piano. I've always leaned toward Yamaha, and after looking at a new DGB1K for $22,000, we found a 2013 Yamaha C2X with Disklavier being sold on consignment. It seems to be in good condition. There are a couple of very small spots of damage in the finish where the wood shows, and the caster wheels are very tarnished for some reason. You can see some of those VERY faint scratches in the finish that I feel like I see on every polished Ebony piano I see.

It feels good to play (I'm no professional) and it sounds great. I have no experience to know what the used market and fair prices are for a piano like this. This dealer sold it to the original owner 6 years ago and she is the one listing it on consignment. I don't think it got used a lot. I could see no grooving on the hammers, only the little black marks from the strings. They are selling it for $28,900. Does this seem fair to you? They said they would take care of the few blemishes and provide two free tunings for that price.

Any thoughts? Thank you so much!

Well, I bought it. Hope I got a good deal. $22,500. Includes installation of the new 900 Enspire system and new caster wheels, repair of cosmetic flaws, etc. I’ll figure out how to post some pics.

If you are getting it for $22,500 including all the extra things you mention plus the tunings, then yes, the price seems good. Most folks here would recommend that you have an independent piano tech evaluate any potential instrument prior to purchase - but given that the dealer seems very involved with this one, you probably will be OK.

Well, congratulations on your new C2X with Disklavier.. I had a GB1K and traded it for a C3. I’ve played the C2 and the C2X and they are a big step up from the GB1s. Depending on your use of the Disklavier system, I hope you and your wife do have the opportunity to use the Disklavier as a learning tool. Please post pictures when it’s delivered.

Congratulations on your new piano! Hope it brings you many hours of enjoyment both playing itself and you playing it.

Seems like a really nice piano. Not sure about how it sounds, tough to tell through the video. The only thing I worry about is that you'll mostly have it play for you instead of you playing it, LOL.
