I know there are quite a few headphone-related threads here but I couldn't find the information I need - so I'm posting this.

I have a Yamaha P-255 - and I'm monitoring it with headphones while I stream music to Twitch.

Up until recently I've been using Sennheiser HD 4.50 BTNC in their wired mode. The keyboard's master volume is almost all the way up (this worked well with my stream mix) and the headphones would sound okay (not too loud).

Unfortunately the wired connection broke (I only hear one channel unless I bend the connector) - so I'm forced to look for an alternative.

I had the famous Porta Pros lying around and connected them - it sounded a lot louder (and of course it wasn't comfortable).

Here's the part that's difficult to research.

While there are a lot of recommendations flying around, it's unclear whether the Yamaha P-255 specifically will work well with most of them. Some headphones are with 32/150/250 Ohms and some people write that "not all devices can drive power to those models without a pre-amp". But how do I know what headphones work well without pre-amps specifically for Yamaha P-255's headphones output?

When Googling for impedance on my current headphones I see that the Sennheiser HD 4.50 BTNC had 18 Ohm but the PortaPro supposedly had 60 Ohms.

Bottom line - can anyone tell me about specific models (and preferably out of the highly recommended ones like ATH-M50X and Behringer - which ones would work without a pre-amp and not sound too weak with Yamaha P-255?

I've used Sennheiser HD280's, and Shure SE215's ("in-ear monitors" = earbuds with good sound) on battery-powered electronics (mobile phones, etc), and on my Casio PX-350:

. . . They are both loud enough.

The ATH M50x has gotten lots of good reviews; if it's within your budget, why not buy it?
