Hello everybody!

I need help in choosing between the two pianos mentioned as I don't think I'll be able to try them out myself for a few months at least.
Anyone who knows about the two hybrids may express their views, complaints, pros and cons, etc.
I would be expecting an impressive action, though I've heard that they both have an acoustic action. Please let me know which is heavier/lighter. Youtube did not provide a direct comparison anywhere, so I decided to ask the community.

Please do post your thoughts on the sound and please provide all the details you possibly can. I usually play without headphones and the ones I have are used occasionally. I have no space problems too. Also, do mention the key press-to-sound relationship as it really influences my choice. If possible do comment on the pedal influences.

I'm looking for the one which is more close to an acoustic grand and I'm an advanced level classical pianist. So keeping those things in mind, kindly provide me some assistance in choosing what would be right for me.

Thank you!

There are numerous threads here in which people have given their impressions of these pianos.

But do those opinions matter? That is ... will you be willing to drop $10,000 or more on a piano that you've not tried yourself?

I will surely try them out a few months later
And I agree to the cost
I just want the community's opinions so that I can have a deeper understanding of both

If you’re not already aware of this, beware of dealers overcharging you!

These pianos cost no where near the MSRP, but if the dealer senses you’re not aware of this, you could end up paying thousands more than other customers.

For example, the MSRP for the N1X is over 11K, but the instrument is not worth anything near that, and some have bought it for as little as 7K. Of course, now they’re using the ‘shortage’ as an excuse to raise prices, but still, if you decide to buy now and not wait for the so-called shortage to end, do not pay more than 8K for this instrument, and that’s already pushing it.

Of course, the above prices are assuming you’re in the USA, but no matter where you are in the world, know that the MSRPs are deliberately inflated, and negotiate accordingly.

Also, we have a ‘digital piano prices paid’ long-running thread that I recommend you check out to get a feel for how much people are ‘actually’ paying for these instruments.

At the OP, I don't know if you've considered the Yamaha Transacoustic or not. If you have the budget for it, I think this may be worth being under your consideration.

I did, but doesn't it require tuning too?
And the ideal conditions for an acoustic as well?

Yes, but it sounds like a piano, not a digital surrogate wink
And in this price range, the cost of tuning is probably not a major issue.
The main consideration is if you can play the acoustic part much of the time.

Good luck finding instruments to audition. Here in the US the shelves are pretty bare. You can find the NV10 but not the NV10s.

It doesn't require tuning. Only if you want it be in tune after a year or two.

Many people are very happy with out of tune pianos for decades.

This is like saying that a car, bicycle or lawn mower doesn't require maintenance except if you want them to continue working properly after a few years. If you decide to invest a significant amount of money in buying an acoustic piano you should consider the ancillary costs. Regular tuning and regulation are essential to maximize the instrument's life time.

Since the OP wants to hear people's (subjective) impressions about the pianos, here goes mine.

When I was looking for a piano, I slowly convinced myself to up my budget to the 10K mark (started thinking I'd spend no more than $1,500 hahaha!). I drove 2 hours to try an NV10 in person and was very excited about it because I had done a ton of research and watched a zillion of videos on it.

When I sat down to play it, I was very disappointed, especially with the speakers (and I wasn't about to spend 10K on something so that I would have to spend more $ on buying external speakers to make it sound better). The action didn't have the feel I expected either. The dealer had acoustic uprights in the store as well and I tried a K300 next to it. That was the day that it dawned on me: if I'm going to spend 10K, why not buy a nice real piano instead of a nice thing that tries to imitate a real piano? I already had a P125 at home for silent practice and concluded that since my silent practice time is less than 50% of my total practice time on average, I don't need my silent piano to be my best piano.

Disclaimer: this is just my *personal* opinion. I'm sure there are folks in the forum who are quite happy with their NV10s.

You are aware that the logic that follows your statement is:

"many people are not very happy if their piano is in tune"...

I wil happily make a monetary bet against the truthness of that statement. 😊

Which one? Mine or yours?
