I had never heard of this pianist before but thought I’d share this excellent performance of the 1st Rachmaninoff Sonata.

He captures so many subtleties that are easy to miss with more ‘masculine’ interpretations like those of Weissenberg or Berezhovsky.

For me, too, a pianist entirely unknown to me before this - and on the evidence of this recording, I simply cannot account for how that could be.

Absolutely astounding! Sigier's realizing of Rachmaninov's ideas and narrative truly qualifies for the term "consummate", IMO - a term I could not apply to any of the other performances of the work I've heard hitherto.

Doubtless it's unnecessary to say I shall be avidly searching for Sigier recordings hereafter, and I can't thank you enough for sharing this video, jon-nyc!

this recording proves that Rachmaninoff's 2nd sonata is just a lesser opus, bravo!

Yeah right? How have we not heard of this guy? This recording is just superb. Most interpretations seem to be 'about' managing the technical difficulties. He's well beyond that.
