Wow, great photos and beautiful instrument. If it sounds as good as it looks, it should be amazing. Congratulations!

One question, is the serial number 110? Is it very old?

Congrats again. Looks great!

I've heard the C&A pianos are numbered differently than the usual serial numbers, so perhaps that's its C&A number.

Yes, that’s the C&A serial #. It has a regular SN too, which I have written down but not handy. It’s 8 years old.

We just did a D selection at my college, six weeks ago. Of the 7 pianos in the selection room while we were there, only 3 were satin ebony finishes.

All the C & A Steinways have a three digit number.

It's not about the finish, but about the form factor of the cheeks and keyboard lid and I am not sure whether those were already in Hamburg style 7 years ago. Right now the easiest way to check whether it's NY or Hamburg is by looking the pedals. If the housing front cover is made of brass, then it's definitely a NY piano.

Steinway changes and distinctions are definitely outside of my wheelhouse, but this is the thought that struck me too, given the piano's age.

It might be cool to end up with a Hamburg.

It’s a 2013 model, mfr SN is 596562. I haven’t learned how to decipher the C&A number. 110 seems really low, surely it isn’t simply sequential? I do wish the pedigree included a list of who all had played the piano. This one originated in the Atlanta market, so I imagine there would be some recognizable names on that list. Also being a B and not a D, it would likely have been used in either smaller venues or on stages where the piano wasn’t the star of the show, and probably not used as often period as the D. The Gallery recalled from memory that Alison Krauss may have played it.

It's a stunning piano; congratulations!

I hope that you will be able to keep direct sunlight from falling on the piano - at all times! In the (beautiful) photo, it looks as though sunlight is hitting the piano, not a good position for a piano to be in.

Regards,

It's most definitely a New York model.

Congrats on your piano! Enjoy!

It is… made for a great photo though, didn’t it? LOL
But yes, the curtains stay closed unless I’m in there and there’s no direct sun. I admit to trying to stage a nice photo. :P
