Hi

A quick play through the above. Exactly the same form as the original record, but with the odd mistake and my usual lack subtlety!

Cheers

Not sure what an 'outro' is, but I enjoyed this. I dug out my Eric Clapton 'Unplugged' album and gave it another listen this morning.

Nice! Everything but the "bird chirp" at the end.
Also nice to see someone else playing on a Casio PX-S3000. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I like mine.

Lilypad, an outro would be the exact opposite of an intro...

Nope, no issues with it at all.

Started again in July 2020 at age 67. Lots more fun now!

Thanks trooplewise (and lilypad),

I've had my PX-S3000 for almost exactly a year now. At it's price I think it's a terrific Piano, and like you, to date I've had no issues at all.

Cheers

FWIW, Rita Coolidge claims to have written at least part of this. Her former boyfriend, Jim Gordon (former after hitting her in the jaw, as I recall) was given credit. Gordon, maybe the best drummer of my generation, was seriously mentally ill, and has been in prison for decades after brutally murdering his mother.

Nicely done Simon. I'm trying to learn this myself at the moment after having learnt the rest of the song.

I'm also trying to put together an intro, which will be more improvised.

BTW, I think this outro only really featured on earlier versions of the song.

I'd be a far better pianist if I spent the time I'm on this forum playing my piano instead.

Thanks Andy,

I'm only aware of this outro from 3 places:

1. Obviously the original record.

2. Eric Clapton played it at Live Aid, with Chris Stainton playing the Piano part.
(I've sort of stolen one of Chris Staintons ideas from that performance)

3. It was used in the film Goodfellas to great effect.

I'm sure Clapton has probably used it many times over the years, but the shortened version without it seems to be played more often.

Cheers

I had the 45rpm record of Layla many, many years ago. It had the full piano outro on it, and I loved listening to it.
