Never! Not in a million years! Not if my fingers fell off!

Lately I've been trying to make peace with the probability that I will never compose to live, but I am 100% committed to living to compose! It's what makes me happy.

Interesting discussion.

Guastavino sounds interesting.

A composer only needs to get lucky once to be remembered. So I think failure to date is never a reason to give up. The history of music has numerous examples of "one hit wonders".

Mascagni's intermezzo is well remembered but not sure much else (excepting in-depth opera fans)!

For most people involved in music though, whether they compose or perform, it's a compulsion. Whether the demands of making a living, raising a family or whatever, intervene the compulsion remains for most of us.
