Have you done any piano exams before (ABRSM/Trinity)? Especially Grade 8?

Does your teacher have a diploma?

If any of your answers is 'no', you'll find it very difficult to pass any diploma exam.

Hi Miguelseblas,

Sorry to hear about the disappointing result: did you get any specific feedback? Is it something you believe you can improve?

Ultimately it is subjective - and will come down to the specific examiner evaluating your performance: perhaps you were just unlucky? it is worth trying again?

There are many people here with significant knowledge and experience: if you can share the feed-back and the exam recording, I am sure you get some interesting recommendations

I think it is difficult to pass this even with a diploma trained teacher. Unless you really need this for your teaching career I would try not to worry to much. I think about half failed these exams. I dont like much from the classical period but the minor mozart piece was very nice to listen too.

Dear All,

I thought I would give you an update on my LTCL journey; I got a new teacher after failing my LTCL last November, and we prepared together completely new repertoire:

JS Bach Concerto after Marcello BWV 974 in D minor
Haydn Sonata in C Major Hob XVI:50
Shostakovich Prelude and Fugue No. 4 in E minor

I made another video submission and I got a Distinction this time!

Definitely getting the right teacher helps!

Thank you all for your messages
