LOL, so true!
P.S. Should be posted in Pianist Corner though, not here.

Well, clearly the neighbor knows something about Classical music, although annoyed and irritated at the practice/playing that they can hear in detail, ClassicFM or not.

I'm very fortunate, I suppose, in that my closest neighbor is about 100 yards (length of football field) away, so my piano playing doesn't seem to irritate them too much (I hope).

Also, I found the hand written note rather difficult to read.

Still, a nice bit of PW entertainment this morning, along with a second cup of coffee... smile

I suggest taking the middle road.
Don't practice a piece in its entirety (it is totally inefficient if you need to practice bar 3) but also don't practice a few bars for hours as repeating a few measures for hours is not efficient either and probably just drilling in wrong habits.

I suggest taking the alternating road. wink

Alternate between deep practice of a couple of measures or a phrase and playing through the whole piece. Even when practising in an overlapping way - that is, always include the next note(s) while you practise a measure or a phrase - still, playing through the whole piece is also a necessary part of your practice. It is one thing to remember how to play that tricky measure 34 when you play it over and over and over again, but quite something else to immediately know how to play that measure when you have first played measure 1-33....

Playing the piano is learning to create, playfully and deeply seriously, our own music in the world.
