Ha, funny coincidence: I listened to Chamayou's Pavane on Youtube yesterday.

You didn't specify what level of difficulty.

Some random suggestions:

Bach Prelude and Fugue in C# minor BWV 849. This one holds a special significance to me as when I played it I was going through a particularly upsetting episode in my life.

This was written by the composer Melesio Morales in memory of his 3 year old daughter, after she died suddenly.

"Valse Triste" is literally "Sad Waltz", but it's not a beginner's piece:

And Tchaikovsky wrote "Chanson Triste" (literally "sad song"). I used to play this one, and I will get it back this autumn.

Yeah, it's not "Joy to the world" really.

Will do some R&B for a while. Give the classical a break.

Well, let's not over-generalize. Many of his more virtuosic pieces like his etudes aren't really sad pieces. Some of the typical "happy" pieces by Chopin are the A-flat major Polonaise op. 53 or the Minute Waltz op. 64, no. 1. There are many more.
