It's Fun to Play the Piano ... Please Pass It On!
Usually I lay down crude tracks with a midi controller, then record a rough draft with audio only. By the time I film it all the instruments are there to play along with so the order doesn’t matter anymore.
I don't know if they have dealers there. Most of their business is aimed at the US, where the founder lives. Perhaps you could hop a cheap flight to the Baltic and make a direct order?
Yes it's a shame. If I was currently in the market for a 6-7ft grand Estonia would be right at the top of my list. They have really impressive tenor and bass sections and an overall wonderfully musical sound.
Pold that's a lovely recording on the L210 and very nice playing indeed.
Yes-- Bechstein B or Bluthner 4 would be the other obvious choices for me in that bucket, but they cost about twice as much. Good times to be in the top end of the market, though!
This is an Estonia L210 recorded with just a Zoom H5, incredible the bell-like attack of each note.
Beautifully done! Thank you for sharing.
Regards,
I agree very nicely done! The more I hear Estonia pianos the more I like them.
My piano's voice is my voice to God and the great unknown universe, and to those I love.In other words a hymn. That is all, but that is enough.Life goes on, despite pain and fear.Music is beautiful, life is beautiful.
Well thank you for posting, the piano does sound very nice!

I still wonder why the Estonia Owners Club is still a pretty small group. These pianos ought to be flying out the dealer’s door.
The last time I spoke with Indrek Laul was about 7-8 years ago. At that time, he was sticking with his plan to produce only about 400 pianos per year. I'm sure one or two dealers could chime-in with more recent information, but increased output was never his strategy for higher revenue. Steady improvements have increased quality and pricing accordingly.
At some point, higher volume would mean competing head-on vs Yamaha and Steinway. Even if the Estonia pianos are better, they don't have the same marketing muscle behind them.
Here in the US, some of the Yamaha dealers will get Estonia’s.
Please elaborate. Is there a tie-up between Yamaha and Estonia?
Don’t exactly know. My Yamaha dealer is part of Classic Pianos in Portland. They get several Estonia’s every year for their locations. Our own Rich Galassini of Cunningham pianos is also a Yamaha dealer and sells Estonia’s.
It would be very business-savvy for Dr. Laul to get a large dealer network like Yamaha from which to sell their beautiful pianos. Wish I had more info.
J & J Estonia L190 Hidden Beauty The reason I’m old and wise is because God protected me when I was young and stupid.
Congratulations adamcz on your wonderful new piano! Great recordings and lots of love for Estonia pianos here! I had tried a 190 but really only have room for a 168. I went in as soon as I heard one was on its way to the showroom floor (Classic Pianos Seattle). When we met, my L168 didn't even have a price tag on it yet. I played and compared it with Yamaha C2X, C3X, and a few others, then started looking for the manager with my wallet in my outstretched hand. IMHO, Laul and his team are already doing all the marketing they need. If things go according to plan (not a super-safe bet these days), I'll have an opportunity to ask lots of questions when I visit Tallinn next year!
I wish I lived in a big enough place for house concerts (featuring someone else playing) on "Serena," my Estonia L168. I may have to move! Meanwhile I recently acquired a Kawai ES110 for late-night practice sessions.
One more video now that the piano is well-tuned and sounding more balanced than it did in my first video. If anyone in Madison needs a tuner, hit me up and I'll message you his contact info. Super happy with how it sounds.
