Hi friends, how long it takes to prepare this piano piece? O Polichinelo Rubinstein Is it really so hard? I have a piano recital at the end of this year and I would like to play this one.

Hi
Your post provides no information for anyone to help you evaluate whether this music is too difficult for you. It requires speed, finger agility and finger independence— while playing every note evenly. Do you have these skills/experience? What extremely fast music have you played? What are the last pieces you played well?

You might want to take a look at the score

How long it takes to prepare this piece depends entirely upon you; upon your technique, upon your musical background and training, upon your ability to handle and your familiarity with the particular challenges of the piece and upon your musical skills. These vary with every individual; there is no answer to "how long it takes to prepare..."

What works have you successfully completed to a reasonably high standard?

Get the score and start practicing; you'll soon learn whether or not you can perform it in the time you specify.

Regards,

Not bad for a 77 year old dude. Wonder how long it took him to learn it? grin

I learned this piece long ago and, if I remember correctly, I was playing at late intermediate level at that time. It has a lot of repetition, is quite short and requires you to be comfortable with fast alternating hands technique. As others have said, we have no information on what you are capable of playing so it is hard to judge whether this piece is appropriate for you. If memory serves me, I don’t think it was all that hard. It’s just fast and flashy, which is probably why Rubinstein often used it as one of his encore pieces.

Best regards,

Here is another video of him playing the piece as an encore for a performance in Moscow in the early 1960's.

Note that this is one movement of a suite by Villa-Lobos:
