Hello All!

I'm an adult piano student. I have been learning for about 8 years now. I'd say I'm intermediate level. I'm desperately in need of a great piano teacher. They can live anywhere as I'm willing to do online lessons with the right teacher. I'm living in Minnesota.
My goal is to become a better pianist. I want to get to the advanced or professional level and some point. It's been easy finding an average piano teacher but very difficult finding a great one. I want someone with advanced degree like doctorate, or Julliard grad or someone amazing. I need a great teacher to identify my weaknesses and give me pieces and exercises to make me better. and to help me with difficult pieces I'm working on. I like playing classical, jazz and pop. Let me know if you have any recommendations.

Thank you!

FWIW --

A teacher who is "great" for someone else, may not be great for you. There is no "one-size-fits-all" piano teacher.

. . . Do you have a teacher now, who isn't working out well?

. . . Have you _ever_ had a piano teacher, or are you strictly self-taught?

You say "I'd say I'm intermediate level".

. . . What classical pieces have you been playing?

. . . Have you taken any piano-performance exams?

. . . Have you done any public performing? volunteer gigs at seniors' homes? Work with a band?

(b) You might start searching at:

(c) Google "music conservatory minnesota" -- you'll get some schools, some in the St Paul area. Those would be worth investigating. College music-department teachers often give private lessons.

I have mixed feelings about Zoom (etc) lessons. I've taken some singing lessons over Zoom, and found them to be less than satisfactory. But they're better than no lessons, and some teachers and pupils like them.

Let us know how your search goes --

You have asked this question several times before. How did any of your previous searches go?

You can not focus only on some human or a PC programm. If you have for about 8 years of skills there is only you by yourself who can push you for upgrade your skills. I'm using musescore for it. There are a lot of melodies and they have an interesting tools to learn melody by video-tutorial (like Synthesia)- https://musescore.com/classicman/clairdelune/piano-tutorial. Try it, it can be useful in selfteaching!

I don’t think many here would recommend using Synthesia unless you only want to copy one or two pieces. If you take the time to actually develop playing skills, the world becomes your oyster!
