Hey, I am the owner of Kawai RX-2H from 2012. I purchased it a year ago and all have been great until today.

I have discovered blue and pink little dots on some keys, two of them are extremely noticeable.

Please click on each photo to enlarge it and then download high resolution.

1. Look at the C key, you will notice 3 pink dots next to each other and 4th is a bit lower:

2. Here key E will have 2 pink dots next to each other, key G has blue point in the middle of the key (that one is very noticeable) and key A has 2 pink dots:

3. Here key F has 1 pink dot in the bottom-right corner:

4. And finally the biggest boss of all dots, key G has extremely visible pink dot:

I have no kids in the house, so it's impossible that someone drew those dots. Last time I played was Saturday and I did not notice anything. This morning I sat to the grand piano and I immediately noticed key G with the pink dot.

It looks like it comes from the bottom of the key, so not from the upper surface. You cannot feel it with your finger at all, I tried to wash it off using water, then a bit of alcohol based cleaning agent. Nothing works at all.

Does anyone know if maybe there's a glue between wood and plastic that is coloring the keys? Keys have no direct contact with sunlight.

Ah, didn't realize you're in Europe. Must be the pixies then, or the leprechauns!

You did not buy this new (as I read your OP). It's been in someone else's possession for about 10 years. Very difficult to figure out. I would suggest calling Kawai about it. I can only imagine that it has been exposed to something prior to your ownership. The Neotex is porous (designed that way).

This from the Kawai care guide:

Keep your hands clean
Whenever possible, wash your hands before
playing, and keep fingernails trimmed to avoid
scratching the finish or key surfaces. When you
have finished playing, wipe the keyboard with a
soft, slightly dampened cloth. Never clean with
alcohol or other organic solvents as these may
damage the key surfaces.

Especially during the pandemic, but even before, many piano owners and schools where cleaning keys with all sorts of questionable wipes, sprays, and liquids.

Yeah that was my thought as well too. Maybe someone marked the keys in the past but I cannot explain how this was hidden and suddenly exposed, that's a mystery I cannot solve. I will contact Kawai to get knowledge how they glue plastic with wood.
