Cmon boys and girls, I dont why you are all trying to make things so complicated. The F-10H pedal works perfect with the beatbars EX2M expression pedal adaptor, I told this two pages ago.

https://beatbars.com/es/home.html

I tried it in Pianoteq and Garritan CFX lite, both works OK, no problem.

Hey VPC1 Owners, does anyone know if the action of the VPC1 can be taken out of the case/cabinet and still be used? I think of using the VPC1 action in a DIY grand cabinet and if could and would be a more elegant fit without the whole VPC1 case.

I think Billy Joel does this but without taking the action out of the case.

You can remove the top cover of the VPC-1, is that enough? The action and electronics should work fine without the cover on. If the VPC-1 is like the MP11, the action itself is fixed to the bottom wooden frame of the DP, it can't be slid out or removed without major disassembly.

I would be careful if you're going to move it around with the cover off (not only is the action itself fairly fragile, but the metal frame may be a structural element of the whole package).

Do you mean like this -

“....My vpc-1 is about 6 years old. ..... As everything seems great about the unit I believe him, and I think opening it up confirmed it,

vpc1-1https://postimg.cc/c6nwPbnw

.... or like this -

“ I opened up the vpc-1, took all keys and hammers out, and (finally) blush measured everything”

Thank you for your answers! smile

I mean it like this (+ the electronic parts removed from the metal case), but not the wood underneath that holds it all together:

https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0853/0642/products/IMG_5373VPC1_1024x1024.JPG?v=1443788323

I want to build a grand cabinet based on this beauty: http://forum.pianoworld.com/ubbthre...-studiologic-sl88-grand.html#Post2887791

Funny enough, today I stumbled across an ad in eBay Kleinanzeigen (it's like craigslist in Germany) for an empty VPC1 case. I wrote the guy who sells it. He was very friendly and we had a very nice phone call. He used the VPC1 action in a similar way I like to use it. He bought a Yamaha CP-70 and did not like the action or sounds. So he put the VPC1 action in the cabinet and it fitted just perfectly. To remove the VPC1 action and electronics he had to remove many screws, but thats it. So it should work the way I imagined it. smile I am only kind of nervous to do that myself on an newly purchased item...

I played the VPC1 today and enjoyed it very much. I found the default velocity curve way to light/responsive for Pianoteq, resulting in higher velocities and an overly bright sound, but with the "green" curve and a little adjustment in Pianoteq it worked very well. In fact, I like the VPC1 action better than the MP11SE GF action. Sure, the latter is longer and it is noticeable playing deeper in they keys, but I like the overall feel (less mushy), weight (higher), balance and fluidity (it seems a bit quicker to me) better on the VPC1, as well as the finish on the keys. Absolutely beautiful and a worthy upgrade over my PHA-IV in my Roland FP-30.

I will be joining you owners in a couple of months. Interesting that the big music supply companies don't have any in stock, yet Amazon* has three. That why Bezos is the richest man in the world, lol!

*via a company called Adorama, who I've never heard of. Apparently a NYC 'camera store'. Has anyone dealt with them?

I have. I bought (so in my case, imported) a mix of new and used specialist photographic equipment from them. That was some twelve years ago, but from what I remember, no complaints and everything as described, condition of used items included.

Cheers and happy anticipation,

And if you don’t particularly want to give Jeff Bezos a cut of the profits, you can buy directly from Adorama’s web site. I have bought things from them, and they are fine.

Congratulations and pre-welcome to the Club! thumb

Out of curiosity, will it replace another MIDI controller or is your first one?

Adorama Camera is huge. They're established and reputable. If you're into camera equipment, you'll know who they are. They're similar to B&H Photo, another big NY catalog/mail order company.

I think one or both are run by orthodox Jewish management, which I mention only because it has some pretty interesting impacts on their business hours--there are times of the day/week/year when their ecommerce software is just completely offline, you can't even place an order on Saturdays or something because of the Sabbath.

First full 88 controller since my KX88 that I bought 35 or so years ago (still have it). Probably 8-10 assorted lesser controllers laying around. But I'm done with the Mainstage multi-board rigs, retired from playing out live, and have gone back to just playing piano, mostly classical. I picked up a Yamaha P515 a year and a half ago and I'm on that every day. But, I believe the keybed is defective* and its going in the shop (velocity issues). But hey, I've been jonesin' for the VPC1 all along, and have decided now's the time.

Back to Adorama, if the VPC was in their Manhattan location, I would probably drive in and pick it up, saving it from possible shipping trauma. I'm right on Long Island.

*Someone here had problems with his 515 and apparently Yamaha admitted to there being a bad batch of keybeds, came to his house and swapped it out on the spot. He and I bought right about the same time. Note that this is my second 515, the first one was suspect right out of the box. But, I digress. . .

Adorama?

So I bought this camera lens, and it was my first order ever from Adorama. It showed up on my doorstep and was promptly apparently taken off my doorstep by someone else. I groaned and reluctantly reported it to Adorama. They sent another. I was pretty impressed.

Today my MP11SE will be delivered. I'm curious how it will perform in comparison (especially the pedal unit). smile

It does not feel as smooth compared to the MP11SE unit, the pedals are shorter, it's more prone to make loud clicky noises. It's not as heavy and solid as the MP11SE unit. And it fails more often.

Fails in what way? You push the damper pedal and nothing happens?

The potentiometer in the right pedal slows down the movement of the pedal, which annoys me when playing.

My MP11SE has arrived and i don't want to make a deep comparison between them, but all i have to say: The GFP3 Pedal Unit is miles ahead and it's a shame that Kawai hands out the VPC1 still with the Fatar Crap. Otherwise i don't had a reason to switch.
