This recital will open for submissions Oct 1st 2021, and go "live" October 15th 2021.

The theme is "Beginner Pieces", so this is your chance to present a piece that would typically be performed by a beginner. It is up to the performer to decide if their choice fits the theme. If you need help choosing something, ask in the Adult Beginner's Forum. My suggestion is to select something that you might hear in a student recital.

Here are the rules for this recital:
1) Beginner pieces - you must decide if your choice fits the theme. I do not want to be the judge! You can ask for advice in this thread.
2) Any genre, any style, any period.
3) All skill levels are welcome, but the pieces should be "beginner" pieces.
4) Duplicate submissions are fine - we are all unique.
5) Multiple submissions are fine.

If you would like to pledge to play something, look at the post after this one.

Sam

Even at the beginner's level, the difficulty of the pieces can vary. A piece out of a songbook for easy piano can be one with easy LH chords or simple bass lines. The very beginner pieces can be LH & RH alternating playing 1 note at a time (no overlapping notes).

Recently there was a Piano Marvel online competition. At least 2 people submitted video recordings of "Chopsticks" which is considered easy to learn and involves playing 2 notes at a time. I'm sure somebody would be uploading their version of Chopsticks.

But what is a beginner piece?
I am starting with searching for sheet music and I get different versions of the same piece. Some are very simple with about only one, sometime two notes per hand. No doubt - a beginner piece or at least a beginner arrangement. And others are much more sophisticated with having chords, sometimes sevenths, but still the same piece. What version should I go for?
