The player, the piano, or actually Pianoteq wink

Not convincing. Besides, she makes a lot of mistakes and I'm wondering if she doesn't feel good with the playability of the virtual piano or it's the keyboard to blame.

Sounds pretty OK to me, quite Freaky combination of weightlifting and piano playing. The girls also uses other VSTs. Not big differences there, all sound good.

Sorry Pold I was just messing with you. Every time a Pianoteq comes up into a thread, controversy usually follows. So having a slow day at work I thought I stoke the fire.

Which is sort of ironic as I'm one of the folks around here that likes Pianoteq, especially since the version "7" release.

Peace

I broke down and bought the Petrof Pack. I find that the 284 Mistral is the best sounding modeled piano they offer to date. It has the least amount of distinguishable Pianoteq sounds to it. However, it still does not have a convincingly realistic acoustic sound like my VSL offerings do.

It's a nice change of pace when I feel like hearing more of a processed keyboard type sound. It's a great improvement over all their other modeled pianos (IMHO).

God Bless,
David

Petrof Mistral is the best Pianoteq piano pack to date, I agree. To make it more sample sound familiar I use concert recording preset with external Seventh Heaven convolution reverb or you can use some other convolution reverb to make it more natural, condition slider to 20 or more. Combining with the best realistic response and pedal behavior this piano pack is a game changer.

Pianoteq is good for a vst and this sounds lovely. As a recording. It doesn't sound like it's in the same room as me and I don't know if it ever will or can. I don't think any vst can, or any electronic imitation.
Just now and again, you get, fro YT, a whiff of what it's like playing a real piano when someone is actually playing one in their own room. On the ABF recitals this happens and it makes you realise that however good you think your VST is, it is not a piano!
Bit sorry to say that, but I have had three acoustics and I just . . . took them for granted (sniffle) Indeed, my original piano that I'd had from the age of four was stood next to the digital at one stage . . .and I let it go!!!!!!!!. . .

David, the Pianoteq actually works better on systems that include soundboard spks than just listening by monitors or headphones.
In the future, if you can upgrade to the C3XTA2 or possibly the NV20 or GX1Aures, the modeled Pianoteq will have better sound.
This is because the soundboard system is a 180-degree surface source, which creates its own room reverbs, and more resonance and overtones. In this way, pure modelled sound signals are equivalent to string signals.
But sampled VSTs such as VSL are better suited to traditional speakers and headphones than Pianoteq.
This is only my personal experience, as I also use both VSL and Pianoteq.

Just wanted to add a thumbs up to pianoteq with a good reverb. I've been using the same company's Illusion reverb and find that it makes a world of difference.
