Hi.

I posted a new thread in the general "Piano Forum" but I'm not sure if it was best to post it here or there.

If you're interested in a discussion with questions about shops that may have a VST set up (keyboard controller, pc, VST software, etc.), offer lessons on how use and record using the shop's equipment, and offers appointments to use their equipment to record solo piano, here is a link.

What you're asking for sounds like a regular recording studio, right?

Hi, MacMacMac:

Thank you for responding to my post.

I'd like to respond to your question, but to do so in the other post I started in the general "Piano Forum". To explain...

I was not sure which forum was best to post my question into and therefore posted both in the general "Piano Forum" with a cross reference post (this post here in the "Digital Piano" forum.

I'd like to try to keep this discussion all in one particular post in the "Piano Forum".

I have therefore added your question (I hope that's OK) and answered it in the post I started in the "Piano Forum".

I hope anyone with thoughts on this subject will continue the conversation in the post in the Piano Forum called "Shops We Can Record At/Virtual Piano Set-Up".

Hi. Does a virtual piano software/controller/recording setup allow performance mistakes (playing of wrong notes) to be corrected?

I've asked about this in the general Piano Forum. If you are interested and might like to help, please post here:

http://forum.pianoworld.com/ubbthre...at-virtual-piano-set-up.html#Post3093635

I hope I'll be forgiven for posting a cross reference here to my post in the other forum. I'm at a loss as to where best to post about this.

Shops are generally organized for selling, not for using the gear. What you are looking for may exist in a professional studio and/or in a conservatory.

However, most members of this (Digital Pianos) forum have some form of this studio in their homes. Well, sometimes this gear sits idle, just as our DP sits idle when we are driving a car and our car sits idle when we are playing piano, but this is inevitable.

If you ask a question like "How to build a studio for doing specific things having a specific budget", we will be able to help you with more specific recommendations.

P.S.

Certainly does. There exist a host of methods for this.

Hi, Andrew.

Thanks for the info.

I have some questions about how performance mistakes can be corrected.

I will ask them in a post in the Digital forum.

The simplest scheme for correcting performance mistakes is as follows. Assume that you have a DP, a computer, and a DAW (e.g., GarageBand or Reaper). You connect your DP to a computer, assign the DP keyboard as the MIDI input to your DAW, and assign the on-board audio output of your DP as the audio output of your DAW. Then, using a special DAW button, you activate MIDI recording of your performance and start playing. After the performance, you stop the recording and save the resulting DAW project (which contains the MIDI recording).

Now, using a MIDI editor, you can hear, view and edit the MIDI notation of your performance. After the editing you save the result and then playback the corrected performance through the DAW.

You should well understand what is MIDI notation. In a way this is similar to a traditional music notation. The main difference is, instead of inexact traditional notations for note length, music tempo and dynamics (such as 1/4, 1/8, lento, allegro, p, pp, ff, rit, asc, crescendo etc.), exact numerical values are applied. Using MIDI editor you can add/remove/shift notes and modify the corresponding numerical values. So called Piano-Roll notation makes MIDI editing quite intuitive.

For developing this general scheme, you can add a piano VSTi and apply its audio result as the audio output of your DAW.

Members of this forum can give you specific recommendations which DP, DAW and VSTi to apply, and how to connect them, according to your music style and budget.

Hi, Andrew.

Thanks for the info.

I strayed off the original topic of my post; have therefore started a new post here in the Digital Forum and transferred your above response to the new post.

The new post:
