@ADWyatt: Perhaps you've misread the model number? That was a CA79, not a CA97. It seems that $3900 is in the range of other CA79 sales in this thread over the past ten months: - $3550 - $3140 - $3200 - $3300 - $4049 So I can't imagine paying $1200 more at your dealer ... That's a savings of somewhere in the neighborhood of about $1,200 or so from what I'd have to pay my authorized state dealer ... MacMacMac, if you will read the post immediately following you will note that he paid $3,900 for the CA79, not the CA97. And so I would naturally assume that he had made a typographical error. Of course, he might also have made the error in his follow-up post, so for the moment I'm not really certain of what to think. Hopefully BattleOoze might respond and clear up any misunderstanding. It's a Polished Ebony CA79. I made a typo. https://i.imgur.com/R8zVoyY.jpg

The Polished Ebony version has better wood for the polished panels, usually $500 more at the dealer before negotiation. What I got is basically 3900 - 100(transportation, installation) - 330(tax) - 300(polished finish) = 3170. But of course, it's not that simple because the demand for the matte-finished ones are so high that they're all sold out.

USER LOCATION: San Jose MAKE: Kawai MODEL: CA79 (Ebony Polish) CONDITION: New PRICE PAID: $3900. Tax, delivery, installation all included DELIVERY CHARGE: 0 VENDOR LOCATION: San Mateo, CA VENDOR NAME: San Mateo Piano PURCHASE DATE: 2-6-2021 DELIVERY DATE: 2-10-2021 BattleOoze, when I read your first post, for the price you mentioned I actually thought you really did mean a CA97, for which $3,900 might be more than a tad high. This post clears that up, but it leaves me gobsmacked. That's a savings of somewhere in the neighborhood of about $1,200 or so from what I'd have to pay my authorized state dealer, and so I'm looking at any potential caveats, hoping you can forgive me for doing so. You live in California, a few states to the west of Texas, so I wonder if it might be much more convenient and economical to ship a DP to you rather than to my state of Iowa. Even so, that's a minor consideration. And that leaves me to wonder if you may be getting a great deal because the main Kawai distributorship is located in California. I'm going to guess, though, that the covid virus may have an awful lot to do with great deals that may be offered now. As I understand it, California is being especially hard hit, as vaccines are in terribly short supply. This would seem to have nothing to do with Texas, but the virus may be affecting the entire southwestern United States. I'm hoping I'm not right, and that businesses aren't in any financial straits, but one never knows. (As an aside, if this truly is the case, you perhaps may be feeling a twinge of guilt for taking advantage of a bad situation, but if we don't purchase from stores they can't stay in business. As we Americans are fond of saying today, 'It is what it is.') Unfortunately for me, it is probably not a good idea to call Alamo and talk to them about making a purchase of the PE CA79, as I would not be buying until late spring or early summer; I would just be wasting their time. Even so, I'm tempted to call them and at least touch base on what I might have to look forward to in about three months or so. You are thinking too much my friend. Give Tim Praskins of AZ piano wholesale a call and you'll probably get a quote circa $3800 everything included. Then use Tim's offer as leverage at your local dealer or simply buy from Tim. FYI all these digital pianos are 30-40% cheaper in Japan or China after negotiation, their margin here in the states has to be pretty crazy.

Oh man, I am soooo jealous of my brother. Like me, he's a senior citizen, and he's working at the postal service and drawing his full social security benefits. He just recently told me that he's getting a tax refund of $4,000, and he doesn't have any idea what to do with the money. If I was in his situation I'd be calling Tim Praskins sooner than immediately, and if indeed I could buy a PE CA79 for around $3,900 total, I'd probably drop dead from all the excitement.
Still, I'm getting a fair tax refund, and if indeed we working-class Americans will be getting a $1,400 stimulus check in March, I might well be able to finance by summer. So I wonder what the chances are that this great price for the CA79 will last that long. Is this covid pricing, which will only last until we get this terrible virus under control, or Tim's everyday price? I hope for the latter of course, but to find out I'm too afraid to call Tim, since I'm not ordering immediately. And I suppose patience is a virtue in this case. Here in the midwestern U.S., right now we're caught in the worst winter situation since the mid-19th Century, with wind-chill temperatures dipping below -50 degrees F. Although I've left all the water in my manufactured home running, the pipes still froze, and if they burst it will cost me a $500 deductible for my homeowner's insurance to fix.
Hey, how about getting a job? I can't. With diabetes, my doctor has me strictly home quarantined until two weeks after I receive my vaccine shots, which won't be for another month at least.
Well then, how about bumping off my brother? That wouldn't be right, really. Besides, he hasn't gotten his refund yet.
So.....Patience, young Jedi. Patience.

USER LOCATION: Bangalore (India) MAKE: Yamaha MODEL: CLP-745R (Rosewood) CONDITION: New PRICE PAID: $2400. Tax, delivery, installation all included, $2050 w/o Tax DELIVERY CHARGE: 0 VENDOR LOCATION: Bangalore, India VENDOR NAME: Thomsun Music House PURCHASE DATE: 02-20-2021 DELIVERY DATE: 02-22-2021
Yamaha India has a weird policy where they don't bundle power adapter with the Piano. However the dealer provided it for free (as a discount). Also DP warranty is horrible in India with 12 months coverage on electronics only, although the dealer assured me that the keys are covered.
PS:As a long time Pianoworld forum lurker I finally purchased my preferred instrument. Thank you all for your time and effort in creating such a wonderful resource and discussion forum. Upgraded from a Casio CDP-100 which took away my will to play.

It seems that the shortages are causing prices to go through the roof! The predecessor model CLP645 was available at Sam Ash for $2800 in polished ebony two years ago. Now the lesser CLP745 in matte black is $3300? Yikes! Also ... sad. It makes me think I'll have to wait a LOOOOOOOONG time to get a good deal on a piano.

Couldn't be more right, Tri-Mac, and it hurts.
I don't think there is too much incentive to discount. At least my experience was pleasant. The 'extras' help soften the blow, but oof... But we have a clp-745 on the way and are excited despite the the punch to my bank account. Also, your posts have been of great help too, over the last few months. Your driving home the idea that all Vendors need our money more than we need their instruments was helpful. Not a negotiator and that situation is always awkward.
Good luck holding out, but remember that time is limited for you to enjoy the things you enjoy!

Was this in the US? If yes, do you still have time to cancel the transaction?

Perhaps Pete14 is suggesting that your $6962 price is a bit high? You gave no reason for cancelling. Member oneilt130 paid $5700 in Dec 2018. Member Jjfish930 paid $5005 in Dec 2019 Member GCK paid $5295 in Nov 2020.

If it does, 2 years from now all the cooped up, recent piano purchasers willl be wanting their space back for their super bowl parties, etc. These nice, expensive digital hybrids will be a dime a dozen. You'll get a very nice, unused, pre-owned NU1X for $1200. Just wait it out!

That's is an interesting thought, Ralph-meister! But I'd rather wait for an N1X ... or maybe even an N3X!
