When I was a kid, it seemed that every sophomoric reference to a guitarist was a "troubadour" on a "sojourn" of some sort--lofty talk for mostly pop musicians--so this brand caught my eye.

These were made by the Haddorff Piano Company of Rockford, Illinois, which was sold to Conn and ultimately to Kimball.

Anyway, this one caught my eye. I thought it was kinda cool, but it also made me chuckle (it's hard to imagine a wandering minstrel lugging a piano around...). But as a player piano, and wandering aside, it probably doesn't require the troubadour at all.

There seems to be no end to the names of piano brands that have existed over time, but this is an oddly intriguing one (imo).

I've never seen one of those! Now I'll have to google it, LOL!

It is very cool Ret! Maybe the makers were thinking that people would want a troubadour to come to their home playing piano music?

Interesting. Never seen the name brand either. But I have heard of the "Troubadour" Night club. It ("Troubadour" Night club) was talked about often in the historical music documentaries on PBS. Lots of famous music artists performed there during their journey to Rock-Stardom.

I know there are certain popular brand name pianos talked about most often here on PW, but the fact is there are hundreds, or even thousands of different piano brand names out there, both new and old.

I always thought it a bit odd how some of the old name brands were sold off and placed on the fallboards of pianos made in China and elsewhere, riding the coattail of any success the old brand names may have had. Hence, it just goes to show there is value in a brand name, ever if the original maker is long gone...

I'd forgotten about the Troubadour nightclub in Los Angeles! It was featured prominently in the recent Elton John movie. A lot of folks launched their careers there.

It is unbelievable how many piano companies there were over time.

If I came across a troubadour who could schlepp a piano, I think I would feel safer giving him a good contribution.

The print reminds me of the typical writing style of a medieval
document written by monks. I cannot remember but I think the original "Troubours" were wandering musicians with recorders, singers and lutes who performed secular music in the early Rennassance (as opposed to sacred) This is what I remember reading. I shall need to look that up again.
