There are multiple CFX concert grand VST in the market. Which one are you using? Is it Garritan CFX?

According to my experience with VSTs, the settings (esp. the velocity curve to choose) depend on the MIDI output of the keyboard/DP. Another person's settings might work well for his setup but might be unsatisfactory for a different keyboard.

I use digital piano Yamaha p 45

rach3master's settings are good. Also search for postings by CyberGene - he has threads describing his Garritan CFX setting. You may also be interested in his half-pedal fix.

Of course, rach3master's settings are good, but IMO there is excessive reverb in his recordings on Youtube. With this extremely wet sound, one cannot tell where he releases the sustain pedal.

Dharma, your recordings sound good, so I think your settings are appropriate for the pieces you are playing. Classical music, however, requires a broader range of dynamics, so I was not surprised to see rach3master set dynamics at 100%.

It's an improvement from the first video. I honestly thought you were using the P45's internal pianos in the first one. Your playing is good, regardless.

Garritan CFX is not that far off, compared to the real thing, judging from this video of Yiruma himself. We can assume he's using top of the line recording equipment which few of us can afford, I suppose. It's probably a C7 he's playing.

Honestly, in the first video I set all the knobs on the piano tab at 12 o'clock except the room release volume at 10 o'clock, I was still powering the volume level so it forced the gain to 0 db.

and I set the dynamic range knob to only 50%

If you're satisfied with the sound when you're practising (assuming you use the CFX for practising) and how it sounds in your recordings, there's no reason to fiddle anymore with the settings.

I would even go on to say, if you're satisfied with how the Garritan sounds when practising, that's enough reason to leave the settings as they are. You can always change the sound of a recording, but you're stuck with how it sounds when practising, until you take a break from your practising and change the settings.

I rarely use cfx during training because of latency.

but I believe the current setting is a good one.

Don't give up on the latency. It seems that most of us Garritan users have been able to get latency to unobtrusive levels fairly easily. I do not understand the details of the digital world, but, by setting buffer around 128, I am able to get unnoticeable latency with Garritan CFX.

If you can, than you can practice with it, and enjoy it all the time.
