I just got my new Yamaha P515 and found some strange thing: the Ab1 sound is bit muddy and too loud, comparing to Bb1 and Gb1. I thought it was the speaker's problem and I tried external speaker and it seems the same. And it's only for Bosendorfer voice, the CFX doesn't have this problem. I found the Smart pianist App can adjust individual note volume(so good they have this hidden feature) so I did this change it sounds better(still muddy but balance volume): Is it only me who has this problem? Thanks. Dubi

Yes, that problem is known. Several of us have already complained about muddy, loud notes. For me it’s b and c, 1 and 2 octaves. I too used Smart Pianist to improve, though not solve it. But later on I discovered it was a resonance issue, because I moved the piano to the center of a large room and it disapeared altogether: the sound was now completely even all throughout de keyboard. Try it.

Thanks. Hopefully it's a resonance issue for me also. I have a feeling that in general the sound is bit unstable/uneven for the internal speaker - also applied to CFX(eg. A2->B2 is changed dramatically).
PS. I only used for 2 days.

Bosendorfer is a bit too bassy for those speakers. Those are only little, internal speakers. Decent, but not the best ones. Pair them with active monitors and use simultaneously. You will be happy.

Nice to know this. Never played Bosendorfer before. I found that my record of the Bosendorfer voice can exceed my Mac's speaker limit - really much bass . I actually have a IK Multimedia iLoud micro monitor(used for my previous P155). Just heard from review that P515 onboard speaker was good so I was even thinking to sell the iLoud. Now I have to find a way(use stand/small table) to place my iLoud behind the P515 since it's impossible to put on the piano. Another point is that the onboard speaker has some vibration feedback when I play, which is nice to have..

Additional point I found is that: my IK Multimedia iLoud Macro is not always better than the onboard speaker - both have weakness: the onboard speaker is quite unstable(almost from note to note, and from voice to voice like CFX to Bosenerdofer), while the iLoud Macro is pure & stable but not rich enough(specially when it comes to the CFX) - that's something about EQ I guess.

Using headphones I don't notice any problem with that Ab1, although played forte, it sounds a bit buzzier than the neighbouring notes. (doesn't bother me though) Re EQ - I think the onboard speakers sound appreciably brighter than headphones, or my studio monitors.
I do have a problem with Eb0 though - it has become more velocity sensitive than all the other keys. It's a problem with the velocity sensing - not the sound generation. I wasn't expecting this kind of problem this soon.

Greg That's a nuisance. Is it under warranty?

Looks like we have 5 year warranty here in Oz, so yes.

Greg A bit too bright. If I could get in there and adjust the crossover frequency . . . .there seems like an upper mid-range depletion zone at times! Particularly with Ptq. You can adjust for this on PTq but not on the 515. The CLP645 was little different imo. The 745 will be a lot better, I'd hope.

As a pop lover, a piano can never be too bright.

Im using the Iloud Micro with the Clp 745, the sound its more open... Using both outputs. The Internal speakers from the CLP and the Iloud micro shares some weak points. Too much bass and not so much(for my taste)highs, so the EQ on the CLP it's effective for the internal and external speakers. Take off a good amount of bass and put some highs. Nice combination with vsts, too.
