I'm planning on driving over to the local Yamaha showroom tomorrow to try out their Yamaha CLP 785. I'm expecting to like it after doing a bit of a test drive. I've promised my sister my current Yamaha F01 - basically a Clavinova.

I'm probably going to pay to have the CLP-785 delivered - $250. Delivery seems excessive but I don't want to take any chances.

What I'm asking, is advice for moving the old piano I'm giving away. With a trailer and moving blankets, should it be transported 1) upright or 2) laid down ?

Any insights are appreciated. Thanks.

Page 7 of the owner's manual says:

"Transporting:
If you move to another location, you can transport the instrument along with your other belongings. You can move the unit as it is (assembled) or you can disassemble the unit. Transport the keyboard horizontally. Do not lean it up against a wall or stand it up on its side. Do not subject the
instrument to excessive vibration or shock."

Who are you giving the old piano to? If it's anyone other than a friend or relative I'd suggest having the new owner come pick it up. Why take on that problem yourself?

If I was looking at the correct F01, that's a pricey unit. $250 seems a fair price and they will keep it together and vertical. You did not mention who is getting the old unit. If a stranger, let them pay and be concerned of the move.

2 people have asked to whom I'm giving my F01. My original text below says "I've promised my SISTER my current Yamaha F01". I was simply trying to help her with advice. Her husband has a pickup and a trailer. I expect to replace it with a CLP-785.
