Using that formula, I was able ho buy an attractive rug that fit under my entire 7 FT grand

Nice looking piano, but when the lid is raised you should always fold the the flylid(small part of the lid in front) back!

Yikes! I didn't even notice that because I was staring at the rug.

Regarding the rug, how much longer and wider is the rug than the piano? (I am looking for a rug for myself, and I want the proportions to be exactly what yours are.)

Is there a piece of foam attached to the bottom of the piano? In the photo below it looks like there is a piece of gray foam attached to the bottom of the rim.

Yes, it's actually a foam to lower the sound, there's another one inside the lid as well..

Would you mind taking a photo of the one underneath the rim, I'm interested in how it's fastened.
Do you mean there's something attached to the bottom of the lid- I don't see that in the photo. Is it removable?

The piano is about 2.20m x 1.5m, the rug is about 2.3m x 1.6m.

Congratulations! That is a really nice looking semi-concert grand piano!

It is amazing to me how the plate paint they used back then could last so long and still look good (new/almost new) many years later. My Yamaha C7 was the same way. I honestly thought the piano had been rebuilt when I first looked at it, because the plate-paint, the soundboard varnish, and the color of the string felts looked newish.

To me, that is a sign of good quality to begin with... smile

Enjoy your piano!

Rick

Our church had a similar vintage 9' Kawai piano and it was one of the best pianos I ever played. Congrats on a very fine piano.

I just recorded (using my mobile) my friend playing Liszt Vallee D Obermann on the Kawai 750 (before reconditioning it). Its absolutely amazing and my friend thoroughly enjoyed it! He's going to refresh and recondition it, and also to soften the sound to make it more mellow. Interestingly enough, for a 50 year old piano the action is actually in mint condition! Let's see how its going to sound like after the recondition!

My old Kawai 500 model grand was made in about 1963 .These pianos were incredible, with remarkable tone.i had mine for well over 50 years. Beautiful dark, mellow tone and a wonderful touch.
It did have some serious traveling from South Africa to Vancouver in 2001.I taught music on that piano for until 2018 when we sold it. So the piano you are considering could be a treasure.

I like the 350 and the 500 better than the KGs. 👍

You may recall there were some scratches on the fallboard. My friend has done his magic and they are now all gone! Here is the refreshed fallboard and all keys are cleaned as well smile I will collect the action and the fallboard tomorrow and I can't wait!

The fallboard looks like new! The keytops look great too! I clicked on your link to listen to the recording, and it said the link was expired, but I'll bet it sounds fantastic!

Congratulations again!
