I tried to search and find the answer. I know this has been discussed in topics before. If memory serves me correct, Steinway installs size 2 pins at the factory on grands, right?

Yes they #2 pins. I've seen various lengths though - 2 1/4", 2 3/8", and 2 1/2".

I think some of the very oldest vertical Steinway's may have had 1/0 pins. But it has been so long since I studied one my memory may be mistaken.

I've got a 1980's model B. It sounds like those are definitely #2's.
