Hi!

It seems this forum is the best place to ask such questions, so I'll venture:

I'm considering bying a CLP-735 or a CSP-150. However, after extensive googling, I'm still none the wiser with regard to how Yamaha's different key actions really compare. As far as I understand it, the CSP-150 has the GH3X action (the GH3 with escapement?), the CSP-170 has got the NWX action, and the CLP-735 has got the new GrandTouch-S with synthetic keys (based on the GH3X?), while the CLP-745 has the GrandTouch-S action with wooden white keys (based on the NWX?).

I've tried theree of these: The CLP-735, the CLP-745 and the csp-170 - the latter of the two I cannot afford. However, I haven't been able to test the CSP-150. So my question is: How would you rate the GH3X vs either of the GrandYouch-S actions? Would you think that the 735 has a more advanced or better action than the CSP-150, despite it having a lower price?

Kind regards,
kriswdue

I would not consider the CSP line of pianos. As for the others ... which feels best to you? I ask because that's what matters most.

Ignore the specs. And ignore the razzmatazz names (NWX, Grand Touch, etc. etc.) Those are just words. Pianos are not about words. Take heed of what your hands and your ears tell you.

BTW ... the CLP-x4x has always been the sweet spot in the lineup ... much better than then cheaper models, without going rapidly up the price scale. IMO.

GH variants (including NWX) and GrandTouch variants are two mechanically different families of Yamaha actions, the GrandTouch being the new one.

People might say:
- GH3(X) = too heavy
- NWX = okay, a bit heavy
- GT-S with wooden white keys = lighter than NWX, okay
- GT-S with plastic keys = lighter than the other GT-S, maybe too light for some

But like said, who cares what people say? 😊

All of them probably resemble some real piano somewhere.
