I don't think downloading drivers are necessary with Mac OS.

I also think Cybergene has found the N1X audio interface compatible with the M1 chip.

God Bless,
David

Yes, I have no problems. Both MIDI and USB audio worked without drivers on my MacBook Air M1.

That's good.

If additional drivers are not required, I wonder what is the purpose of Yamaha providing them for download?

Kind regards,
James

Yes, that's very strange. After reading the Yamaha manual I thought recording audio from the USB interface would require drivers even on a Mac and so I never bothered, just used to record on a thumb drive. But David B assured me that was not the case and it was to a huge surprise for me that he was right: I plugged the N1X in the brand new Mac and recorded the N1X sound into GarageBand. Wondering if it's something about BigSur though? Can anyone else with an older Mac confirm they can record from the Yamaha USB audio interface in the digital piano to the computer without drivers?

I agree it sounds like a legacy accommodation for older Macs (perhaps much older)?

I think High Sierra (~2017) was the first time I tried recording piano using a Mac. Didn't need drivers then. I've been using a Mac for recording vocal/guitar since 2013 and never needed to download a driver. Before that, I was lost in the Windows world and drivers abound, but now I'm found. smile

God Bless,
David
