Curious, why are you not supposed to play it much today?

Everything and WAY more! It was in sub-freezing temps and there was a possibility of breaking a string, so the delivery guy (who was great, BTW!) said to let it warm up for several hours. I also want to let it settle in and relax, LOL, it had a 6 hour journey. I'm just playing it gently now. smile

Yay!!!!! Wonderful!!! I am SOOOO happy for you!!

Also, it just occurred to me, thank goodness that the original deal fell through!!!! whome grin

Ahhhhh, I forget that it's actually winter in other parts of the country-- here it's just grey and rainy! Yesterday we got a sprinkling of snow but it didn't stick smile

Hope the piano settles in soon! Are you up for making a recording? smile

Congratulations on your new love! I'm so happy to hear how pleased you are with it.
Your description of the growling bass sums up my delight with my father-in-law's grand which I got in December. It's utterly magical.
The only "problem" with my "new" piano is that it's a lot more demanding of technique than my mushy old upright is, so I'm having to up my game!
Enjoy getting to know your new beauty.

Yep, it’s 28F right now and overnight it was in the high teens, plus we’re in the middle of a winter weather advisory at the moment, so very wintry here, lots of snow! The mover left at 3am to get here by 9:30! My poor piano was chilled to the bone!

I’d like to do a recording, but I don’t know how it would turn out, I only have an iPad and an 11 year old laptop. Even the pics I’ve taken aren’t that great. 😱 I’d want any recording to honestly represent the piano’s sound; anything less would be an insult to such a fine instrument. I’ll see how it goes, maybe it’ll be ok.

Don't worry. Just get to know each other now, you and your piano! :-)

Utterly magical sums it up nicely for me, as well, that’s a perfect description! And agreed, it’s going to take me a while to get used to playing on such a great instrument, as greatness demands the same in return, or at least carefulness. My pedaling is going to improve a LOT, I can tell you that already. So many more choices for color on a good grand! ❤️❤️❤️

With any luck you'll get snowed in for a few days with nothing to do but play your piano wink I'm still hoping for a day like that to occur for me. *sigh*

Now that's nice and warm. smile

It was either -52 or -54 here last night, depending on where you get your measurement. Cold enough that everyone just stays inside. I'm staying in and playing my piano. grin
