Yes, it is that time again! Hope you are ready for ABF Quarterly Recital #61.

If you are new to the quarterly recitals, here is how they work: On the first of February, May, August, and November, the recital opens for submissions. You then have two weeks to submit your performance. The recital goes "live" on the 15th, and you can then listen to the performances and make comments,

The quarterly recitals are open to any music at any level. The only rule is that you may only submit one performance (although it could be a "medley" in one recording). And it has to be piano or keyboard related.

All you need to participate is an mp3 recording. Youtube videos are optional, but are very popular.

There is plenty of experience here in the ABF, so if you have a question, just ask.

Now go practice!
Sam

I just re-learned a song that I submitted 10 years ago. Is this acceptable to submit a piece a second time ?

I've submitted new versions of previously submitted pieces a couple of times, so go for it!

I'm doing MOYD this year and I think it's actually going to help me get my piece recorded smile - I missed the last recital.

Yes, I'll go for it, I just recorded another piece this morning and it was not really great, it's not ready.

It's fun re-learning old tunes, it feels so good to see how much I improve over the year.

Do you wake up February 1st and active the recital ? Or is this an automated process ?

Not automated. I wake up at 5 my time every day. I'm retired now, but used to commute into the big city, so I am stuck with the habit now. I am usually practicing by 6AM.
