In Australia the C7X has a RRP of $83,995 on the Yamaha website, although a dealer offered me a discounted price of $59,000. The S7X has an RRP of 139,995, which is 66% more.

Does that mean one should expect a discounted price of about $98k? Or might the S7X be discounted further? 66% seems like a pretty big premium for the same size piano.

I had asked for pricing on an S3X SH2. RRP for an S3X (without silent) is 90k snd, being generous, let’s add 20k for silent getting to RRP of 100k. I was told 85k.

I think that the number of dealers who can sell SX and CFX pianos is very small compared to CX snd slso the number of Premium sales is slso very small. I think that competition is much lower in this part of the market.

I’ll be very interested to hear how you get on with your negotiations.

I'm not negotiating for and S7X just yet, just wondering what the price premium will end up being over the C7X.

Honestly it’s about the same price difference in the UK as well. It’s quite a bit more expensive to build the S series and it’s a more expressive instrument, but the CX series is also excellent so if you bought one you’d hardly be getting a second rate piano

I think the discount depends on the country pricing and your negotiation with the dealer.
here in Indonesia, S7X is 55% more expensive compared to C7X.

I think retail price (whatever it's called in each country) will reflect each society's cultural acceptance or expectation of price haggling. The more likely it is, the higher the "retail price" is inflated to account for it (and the higher it's been inflated, the faster the offered discounts tend to come). In some places, it's actually regulated by law, rather than custom, and in those places stated retail price tends to be closer to what you'll actually pay.

So no one really knows how much more one can expect to pay for the SX series over the CX series?

What about the CFX? Does anyone know how much it actually goes for after discounting?

Honestly it really depends. The only way to know is to turn up to a dealer with a cheque book and ask them. Different dealers will be able to give you different deals but remember the bigger the discount, the less preparation and service you are likely to receive.

Since the price depends on the specific dealer, his location, and many other factors there is no price "it actually goes for". Even if you had a particular dealer in mind and you knew someone who got the piano from them, that doesn't mean everyone gets the same price.

I doubt you’d be able to find a Yamaha S7X for under 70K.This is about 18K more than the C7X world usually go for. Unless you’ve really got your heart set on a Yamaha, you might want to consider other excellent alternatives. Estonia, Shigeru Kawai, and Schimmel all offer pianos in that same size range with equal or better quality for several thousands of dollars less.
