Has anyone tried the Doc Watkins online jazz course? I’m curious for reviews

you might also post this question in the non-classical forum:

Looks interesting. Free 7 day trial so might as well see for yourself if you’re interested I guess.

I did the free portion, just wondering if anyone has actually paid the tuition and felt the course was worth the fee

So, apparently the free portion was not impressive enough to convince you.

Given that I took the time to post the question and you took the time to ask, I’ll take that as a rhetorical question

Actually, it was not a question (no question mark), it was a statement.

Actually, this is the correct forum to post this question. He is a very good teacher. Nice, friendly style. He owns a jazz club in Texas. The course is focused to the classically trained pianist who wants to learn to play the blues (jazz). He has a weekly Q&A session, and an active FB group. He also offers a money back guarantee.

Thank you, there really wasn’t that much to the free portion and I didn’t want to invest the tuition just to find out that all I would be taught was a few jazz riffs. Doc Watkins does seem to have a calm easy way about him.

I didn't mean to imply that it wasn't appropriate to ask this here (note I did say *also*) but the non-classical forum has a lot of people doing jazz courses and so would be another good resource.

If you already learned chords, theory, rootless voicings, baselines, and riffs. You may not get much out of this course.

If you end up purchasing Doc Watkins's full course, please do let us know how it is. I'm considering taking an online jazz course later this year and would love your feedback on Doc Watkins's approach to teaching jazz -- topics covered, what you liked, didn't like, etc.
Thanks!
