+10 Indeed, would be nice to have her opinion about the NV-10. But the way she talked about the AG makes me think the NV-10's pivot "advantage" might actually be irrelevant. I'm sure she would have noticed the difference. I also liked how she complained about the loud note and the Roland sound modeling. Haha. Very nice.

This needs an update. Those pianos are nearly ten years old. We need a new review ... using current models. Mac, aren't you the one most often pointing out that digital pianos don't change at all despite the marketing claims? I agree with you there. Todays models aren't that different from when this video was made (including the N2).

A lot of skilled pianists have praised the NV-10 and AvantGrands both on and off this forum. I think once a real grand piano action enters the equation, the question of "good action" disappears and it's more preference about the sound, the speaker capability, and aesthetics. In the accompanying article to this video, Dinnerstein preferred the N2 over the N3 because N3 sounded more "distant". Anyways, I think your question has been answered. The best way to get a piano action in a digital piano is to put one in there.

Yes, I do ... Mac, aren't you the one most often pointing out that digital pianos don't change at all despite the marketing claims? But ten years is a long time. That's four generations of Clavinovas. Someone else can count how many generations of Kawai CA-series pianos have evolved over those years. Not much changes in one generation. Or two. But four? I think there's a lot to be said for the newer actions.

Sure, Simone will give you her “opinion” on the NV-10; just make sure her check is in the mail!

Not much changes in one generation. Or two. But four? I think there's a lot to be said for the newer actions. I'll repeat, I have a 1990 Roland RD 300s and a 2011 Roland RD 700NX. The changes in the keys are: 1) The 300 will produce sound no matter how softly you push the key down, the 700 won't. 2) The 300 does not have the aftertouch "notch", the 700 has. 3) The key surface of the 300 is very slippery, the 700 is a little more abrasive. Of those three noticeable differences the only one that really affects the user is the key surface, the others you can EASILY live with! After a while, the key surface becomes less of a problem too. I really do think that there is (virtually) no such thing as a bad digital piano, certainly above a higher price range. Much of this "Oh, Matron, it's just not good enough for ME!" is misplaced snobbery, IMO. Are we all THIS good? Have we all worked THIS hard? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_aZN0wZa77AIsn't it wonderful to be able to claim, "Oh yes, I'm even better on a PROPER piano", but I do have to make do with these second rate, nasty little digital instruments"? If we get as good at playing the piano as the manufacturers have got at emulating it there will be nothing for anybody to complain about anymore. We can't have that, can we?

Regarding photography: "It's not the camera, it's you".
Same for pianos.

Tom ... it's hopeless. Just put him on "ignore". Otherwise you're just feeding the troll. +1 Osho

They add a text saying "Kawaii CA95" when image at that moment is showing the correct brand name on the fallboard. 🙄 Uh oh, she picked the avantgrande as her fav, the kawai zealots is coming out to defend their turf. Hahahaha. Simone Dinnerstein's love for AvantGrand is well-known. She twitted a while back when she was practicing on AvantGrand in a hotel room before the concert. That said, both the above article and the tweets are well before Novus NV10 was available. At that time, AvantGrand was the only game in town for DPs with real GP action. In today's day - I bet that Simone will prefer Kawai over Yamaha due to the longer pivot . Osho

I think this was a loaner from Yamaha - as the post says it is going back and she mentioned that she is going to miss it. Osho

No Kawai zealot here, but, most Yamaha's I've heard sound like motorcycles! The trouble is that IMO Honda's have a better touch and Suzuki's tone is better. Just add, time to get past the "Acoustic good, Digital bad" syndrome. Many acoustics are appalling and should have been broken up years ago! I can't wait to hear what piano Harley Davidson could create!. I guess it would have better bass than the Bossie Imperial
Yamaha U3HKawai VPC1...plus some other DPs, synths, controllers and VSTs

Touché! Precisely why piano players are not impartial enough to review equipment. There's simply too much politics in the way.
