So I was just browsing through the RCM syllabus from 2015, looking at grade 6 (since that's about the level I play at) and discovered music of the modern, Canadian composer Violet Archer. Just wanted to post it here and say that I like it so far, from the Habitant Sketches, to the Miniatures for Piano and Viola. Welcoming myself to the club I guess? Looking forward to hearing more.

Hi Andrew,
Glad you like it but not my kind of music!

The Habitant Sketches are very beautiful, and fun to play. The Church Scene is a very cool study in pedal effects. And the Jig is just fun to play.

Violet Archer was a Canadian composer. I had the privilege of meeting her in the 1990's. She had moved to Ottawa, and was working on a piece for classical accordion. Classical accordion is my OTHER instrument, so she gave me a call to get some information and to borrow some scores. She invited me for tea to her apartment. She was a very lovely lady and made me feel very welcome.
