If this has been covered before- please excuse> I can't find it. :-)

Have a '72 Yamaha U1D with satin ebony polyester finish. The finish isn't damaged in any way, but its surface is a bit 'worn' looking after all these years. Not worn through or anything, just looks like walnut or oak furniture that needs a good polishing.
What can I used to 'rejuvenate it' a bit as it were?

Many TIA, Bill

I am NOT a finish expert but I have been the tech for a Kawai dealer for over 30 years. The only thing I have ever heard that can be used is rubbing compounds, like you would use on a car finish. My understanding is your piano was originally high polish, to make it satin finish they used 0000 steel wool pulled all in the same direction to make it satin. Under incandescent lighting it looks fine, under fluorescent lighting you can see the fine scratches. My suggestion would be to contact the Yamaha dealer in your area and ask to talk to the person who does their Polyester repairs he or she can probably steer you in the right direction. Good Luck
