Hello

My Kawai CS11 is about 3,5 years old now. I have a few sticky keys and one that is almost stuck. I’m considering opening up the cabinet and pull out the keys to fix them. There is a few videos on Youtube that explains the problem and how to fix it. But I’m unsure on how and how much I have to dissasemble the piano to be able to pull out the keys.

Can any one help on this?

Thanks
Peter

Hello Pianoman,

My CS11 was about the same age as yours when the D below middle C began to stick pretty bad. It was repaired under warrantee by a very competent tech but it took about 6 hours and he replaced the slip tape on all 88 keys. He told me he has never had a recall after he did this work.

To be honest I got to see the piano when it was stripped down and you would never recognize it as a piano at that stage. There is much electrical work and components to be undone and then redone. Then you have to remove each key, sand them down to remove old adhesive and then install very accurately the new tapes.

My advice is to call your dealer and report the problem. I think Kawai will do the right thing for you.

Norm

PS—I also had to wait a couple on months to get the work done due to the pandemic.

Ok. Thanks. I will try to contact the dealer about it. 👍
