Success is a many splendoured thing.

I learnt how to bring my pianos up to scratch by reading posts in the Technicians forum. For sure I asked a few questions but they were incidental.

Insofar as PW is a publication it is the views that count. Of course the number and quality of posts is a bit important too.

The original website was hosted by tiac.net, starting in 1997 I believe.
Some snippets of the original are still available on sites that claim to have indexed the old web sites.

Frank - sadly, the links here don't seem to work.

Congratulations Frank! Great Forum and excellent technical advice through the years. This is the only place where I can sip my morning coffee and read and talk pianos.

Somewhat funny incident. I went to lunch with my old work group a year ago last fall, when we could actually have lunch in a restaurant. I was asked, so what have you been doing? I proudly announced, “I got a new grand piano.” Dead silence for 20 seconds and then the conversation went back to golf. Not even the two guitarists asked me anything about the new piano. Oh well. Again I’ve learned I can’t talk pianos to anyone but my piano tech and here on the Forum. smile

Nice story, j&j, and it did make me smile (first smile this morning:-)! If I had been in attendance at the luncheon, I would have wanted to know all about your new grand piano! smile

I was at the grocery store a while back, (before masks) and had an odd inkling to ask the cashier if she played the piano. She looked at me kind of funny and said no. I told her she looked like a piano player to me. Then I started telling her that I was learning to play the piano in my old age and having a ball. I hope she didn't think I was flirting with her, which I was not.

I suppose there are more people, in one place, who are interested in pianos here on PW than anywhere else, especially the grocery store. smile

Hi Frank,

Big thanks for building and maintaining the forum. Also, thanks to those who moderate it.

Some of us can never say "Thank you, Frank" often enough for this website. PW visits are important moments in my day for the information exchanged, for the music shared and for the acquaintances developed.

So, Thank you, Frank!

Regards,

Thank you, Frank. Rickster is correct in saying that you'll find more people interested in piano here on PW than in the grocery store. laugh

Piano World is THE place to go if you want to talk piano.

Congratulations!. I am still below the 300 messages barrier but read quite a lot of threads without adding to them, as you can learn quite a lot from this Forum. I am glad to be part of it.

Now go for 200.000 laugh
