I think I found an issue with my P-515.

When I play two particular notes in a very specific octave, it produces one of the most jarring sound I have ever heard. It does that only in this specific octave.
So the two notes are D5 with E5 flat. I know a weird combination. But I don't think it should sound that bad. It does it both with headphones and the included speakers.

It makes one of my partition particularly hard to play because of that "issue". Everytime I linger on the E5 flat when I leggato my way to D5 in a 8th notes pattern on fast tempo it throws me off as that jarring sound gets out.

Notes one semitone away from each other are supposed to sound bad. Maybe some combinations are worse than others due to the way pianos are tuned. (Actualy there are several different tuning systems.)

Mi mareg, Does it produce that jarring sound on both CFX and Bosendorfer?

I'll try it tonight. But the fact is produced it with headphones was worrying to me.

There are some DP's that implement "string resonance" between adjacent keys -- e.g. C5 and C#5. Some acoustic pianos have it, some don't.

Just for fun:

. . . Turn off "string resonance" and "reverb" on the P-515 (I think there's a menu setting for that).

. . . See if the effect that you find disturbing, disappears.

Thanks --

. Charles

Just to be clear, my issue is not that playing D and E flat at the same time is producing bad sound.
My issue is that of all the octaves on 88 keys, only D5 / E5 flat is problematic. And with headphones. D4 / E4 flat is fine. So I was wondering if the issue is with my particular unit or is it some limitation of the Yamaha sound engine for that particular octave on the P515.
