I'm a proud FP-30 owner, love the keyboard, but the selection of sounds (instruments) is limited. Or so I thought ... until I figured out that the piano has lots of sounds built-in (you can hear them, when you play a MIDI song from a flash drive) except they are 'hidden' (i.e. you cannot select them from the dashboard).

So, I dusted off my old programming skills and wrote a computer program which lets me now play all those other instruments - still using the keyboard of the FP-30, plus alter the sounds with various effects. I wrote about this on my website - see my profile.

Happy to share know-how, and the program with others, if interested.

That is a great blog picman. Nice upgrade for our Roland members and a good education for all of us.

Thank you.
It was project I enjoyed, although sometimes frustrating (when things just didn't want to work), and now that it is finished I can re-emerge from the closed and I'm happy to let others know and share.

Hi Picman,
I am super excited to try your program but neither the website nor youtube works for me.
Can I please get access to your website?

Cheers,
Sam

Picman was last seen in the forum on 11/30/2020.
I guess he is on vacation at the ground of a lake, wearing a pair of perfectly fitting concrete shoes.

Try looking up other web or standalone programs for this, I recall there were several. Thing is, the FP30 has many voices for general midi playback that aren't selectable for piano locally - but it can play them if a program on a midi connected computer just sends played midi notes back wit a different voice code.
However, you shouldn't expect miraculously great sounds. If already midi-connected to a computer, it may be a better idea to look up some good VST instruments to generate audio from the received midi notes.
