Some local techs in my area have tried to figure out what this is for. Nobody has a clue. It was from a tech that passed away. Has anybody seen something like this before?

It looks like a demonstration piece, to illustrate how a hidden wedge can hold a leg in place. It would be more general for cabinetry, not specifically for pianos.

I agree with BDB's observation. Maybe even to demonstrate various piano construction details.

Yes it looks like construction details for an upright back post. There was a time when American manufacturers used back post construction for marketing. I wouldn't be surprised if that is from Everett. Just a guess.

It looks like an upright back. Probably either Aeolian or Kimball. If the posts are oak it is probably Kimball.
