What?? It's true she pretends to play the piano (at least she doesn't play what we hear in the video), but she looks very pretty to me.

I'm not saying she's ugly, totally my type, sturdy legs, meaty.

But she is not a good selection for the product promotion video style they were going for.

Her hair and makeup are also way too dark, that might work fine with promoting sports cars to teenagers, but pianos are not sports cars.

So, do you mean that to promote digital pianos a woman should be blond and with very light makeup? I fail to understand this reasoning but maybe Kawai should hire Valentina Lisitsa to make you happy:

But then they will make unhappy all the Astanova fans... laugh

So at the end, their choice was a compromise: an elegant (but fake pianist) brunette.

magicpiano, you are looking at it wrong; a fake piano must be promoted by a fake pianist! Have you no idea ‘bout marketing 101, sir!

That being said, is Lola competing with Yuja on skimpiness? If so, it seems like Lola is winning! (Exclamation point used for emphasis)!

Posts about the looks of the people promoting pianos are not on topic for a piano forum. You might want to post those things to a "Looks" forum.

Merriam music posted a review today. Yesterday someone here posted a video of him playing a Christmas song on it.

It's interesting from the above video that the little fake soundboard in the rear of the cabinet actually resonates a little when you play low notes and this could make the instrument sound a little bigger. I think this makes sense: the sound generated by the speakers moves air inside the cabinet too, and this makes the little fake soundboard vibrate a little, even without transducers directly connected to it.
Probably this was not intended (otherwise Kawai would have advertised it as a great feature... Maybe they should do it!). And it's true that the tweeters are more far in the back so they make the sound a little different from the CN39 cabinet sound generation, and maybe more "spacious", more three-dimensional... Of course, from the Line-Out or if you play with headphones the sound is exactly the same as the CN39.

Kawai don't call it a "Fake soundboard" though - from their website:

Kawai DG30

"Lower-range frequencies are delivered through the underside of the instrument, while mid and high frequencies are projected outward via the soundboard-mounted speakers, then reflect against the polished topboard."

Well, of course they cannot use the adjective "fake". Think about it: "Listen people, our new DG-30 features a 'fake' soundboard!". That would not sound too good, right? wink

But they don't say the little soundboard "generates" sounds. They only say the mid/high freqs are generated by the upper speakers mounted on the soundboard and then this sound is reflected against the topboard (and this could be another thing that makes the DG-30 sound different from the CN39).

So if there are some little vibrations from that part of the instrument body, they are just passive vibrations (residual vibrations generated from the speaker frame mounted on it and/or from the back of the speakers, as in a bass reflex system).

Anyway, whatever it is, if it sounds good, it's good. smile

See : https://www.kawai-global.com/support/updates/

There are a file for each Kawai digital piano (including the DG30). In the ZIP file, a PDF file gives you the notice.

There’s supposed to be a dedicated input/usb just for a firmware update via thumb drive...my piano has that?
I’m still on a quest to get BLUETOOTH MIDI files into this beautiful instrument..so I am starting to look at these IOS apps...hence PIANOREMOTE as per James previous suggestion

- Below is Kawai support/software updates page for dg30

https://www.kawai-global.com/support/updates/

- Below is the manuals page for dg30 where there currently are 2, one for user manual and one for midi manual

Petrom, yes, usb port on your piano where you can plug a thum drive for various reasons , see page 58 online manual.

You are welcome.

Explore for a while the manual and the physical attributes of your lovely new DP , afterwards, you may find it a bit easier to figure out how to get DG30 firmware version 1.10 onto a thumb drive THEN into you DG30..... a big question for you may be - to download firmware from Kawai onto thumb drive via PC, Mac/ipad or other such device?
