A colleague of mine asked about this piano for some friends of hers.

We are trying to determine the age.
The S/N is 22910.

There is also some question about the ball-head knob to be found in the left cheek block [See photo #2 above]. Has anyone ever seen anything like this?

The placement of the pedal rods seems odd to me as well. In one picture they seem offset to the left. In a closeup, head-on, it looks as if the damper pedal rod is in the center of the 2 pedals instead of being behind the damper pedal. Parallax distortion? Or is this how Petrof did things?

Good Day to All.

My guess is the ball head knob is some sort of practice/make the piano more quiet function.

Looking at the wear on the cheek block, it was used frequently.

Hopefully an in the know person will tell us the real function

I don’t have a piano atlas handy, but bluebookofpianos.com says 1920s, and pianoagecalculator.com says 1910.
