30% on instruments, 20% on standard & pro. From what I gather, instruments sales are pretty rare for PT: https://www.modartt.com/buy?black_friday=2020

Hi all,
Currently I`m using PTQ 6.7 (aquired as vers. 6.3) plus some instruments including Steinway D.
Now my question: To use Steinway NY D, have I got to upgrade PTQ to version 7 only OR must I also upgrade/buy NY D to compliment my existing HB D?
Thanks
p.s. I got all other pianos aside of YC5 and SS B. Is any of those a good selection to spend my money instead of buying a Mercury?

Thanks... It's annoying that my birthday always falls in Black Friday week - there's always an excuse to buy something!
Which are there best 3 instrument packs?

Burkey, that answer only you can provide. Which are there best 3 instrument packs? Having said that, I asked the same question one year ago and the answers I got were helpful. http://forum.pianoworld.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/2911287/your-favorite-pianoteq-piano.htmlOne of the responders made me reevaluate the Bechstein. I had discarded it at first as I did not like it much after playing the demo and listening to audio samples, but, after retrying it on demo and listening again to samples, I selected it and it turns out it became my favorite. I like Grotrian as well, with Steingraeber as a close third. And Petrof. Those were my choices as I purchased the PRO version as last year its BF price was just a little higher than Standard. I hope this helps

So that I understand this correctly, is an 'instrument pack' just one single instrument?
I.e. 3 instrument packs would just be 3 instruments?
Just that in English an 'instrument pack' would normally mean multiple instruments - otherwise you'd just say '3 instruments' not '3 instrument packs'.

To use Steinway NY D, have I got to upgrade PTQ to version 7 only OR must I also upgrade/buy NY D to compliment my existing HB D? When I upgraded to version 7 (for free, since I had bought the upgrade to Standard a few months ago), I suddenly had the NY Steinway along side my existing Hamburg Steinway. I did not pay for the NY Steinway. So that I understand this correctly, is an 'instrument pack' just one single instrument? Most instrument packs contain just one instrument (including many presets for that instrument). Some instrument packs contain several instruments (including many presets for all of them). You can see the instrument packs here: Pianoteq instrument packsEDIT: Actually there seem to be 11 packs with several instruments, and just 10 with a single instrument. But for acoustic pianos, there are only three packs with several instruments.

So that I understand this correctly, is an 'instrument pack' just one single instrument? An instrument pack is one OR more instruments. TBF most of the modern piano packs are one instrument per pack (although for Steinway D you now get both the New York and Hamburg variants) but the historical instrument packs contain 4 or 5 instruments per pack, the electric instrument packs contain 3 or 4, the harps pack contains 2 harps, etc.

I see Pianoteq Pro 6 is cheaper elsewhere...
Do I get a free upgrade to 7 if I purchase 6?
Edit: I took the plunge, ordered Pianoteq Pro 6 for USD $314.

FWIW I discarded the Bluthner because of a strong (or so it sounded to me) thump. It makes it interesting though, and It could be my sixth choice if it were available with the PRO license. Have they fixed this 'thump' in the Blüthner? Otherwise I'll go with: Steinway D Steinway B C.Bechstein Steingraeber & Söhne I guess I can just purchase the Blüthner later anyway. Edit: since instrument sales are rare, I'll just get it now!

I'm thinking of adding the Petrof 275 myself. @Burkey, I would go with the C.Bechstein before the Steinway D. YMMV
All these years playing and I still consider myself a novice.

Sounds like you have a plan. I have been happy with the Standard version and keep looking at the Pro license but for me I don't see the need at the moment.

I now have the Studio bundle, and do enjoy the Grotrian, Petrof, YC5 and U4 as well. Even the highly unique K2 is magnificent. And those Kremsegg and Karsten packages. But the Electric Pianos pack is what I would purchase sooner. Damn fine Rhodes and Wurly. Also the Hohner pack, with that wonderful Pianet N. And then you have to play the Ruckers II harpsichord. And the Celtic Harp. And the Celesta for that WTK Bach Prelude. Man, they’re all incredible. Wait till you start morphing and layering.
