The Search Continues... a piano that escaped my notice earlier is a 2005 Weinbach 5'5" grand for significantly less than the Baldwin M I have my eye on. I just learned Weinbach was the "entry" level piano for Petrof, which is enormously appealing, assuming the quality and tone are similar. Does anyone know anything about these pianos? How would I tell if this is one of the last models made by Petrof in Prague or one of the first "stencil" Weinbachs made in Dongbei? It appears to be right on the edge of that move in 2005/06. I'm taking a look this weekend when I go play the tuned up Baldwin M and Chickering 5'4", and figured I should find out what to look for in the Weinbach before I get there.

I only heard of Weinbach Grand Cru. The Fallers do make some of the loveliest dry wines from Alsace. Definitely worth trying!!! (sorry, offtopic, but to me these fantasy names from companies abroad trying to suggest being made in another country are tiresome...)

I played a couple of Weinbachs at a dealer back in 2003-04. They were simply "plain Jane" versions of their entry level Petrof counterparts - and thus a tad less expensive. I don't recall them being either bad or exceptional - but they seemed like a fairly good deal at the time.
