Recently, I was gifted a small grand piano. I am looking into moving it from the Greater Boston Area to Toronto. Any tips on moving companies and costs I should expect to pay would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Welcome to the board, Lisa. In my experience, most piano movers hate this international border due to the paperwork. You might have better luck simply getting the piano moved by a regular household effects moving company, as an add-on to another family's cross-border shipment of goods. This would also be less expensive.

Good luck, and keep us posted.

Is it a new piano?
If it's an old piano, does it have ivory keytops?

I remember reading that going into Canada is much easier then the other way around.

Do your homework .Might be easiest to rent a uhaul and move it yourself in a trailer.

Just be aware the border is currently closed ... so if you do make it in you'll have to quarantine for 14 days.

Paul.
